PRE-SEA TRAINING FOR G.P.RATING

(Approved by CAMA Belize)

Seafarer Shipping Services India training program is a four to six months Pre-Sea Training Curriculum that is approved by CAMA Belize (Belize Maritime Affair). The course comprises of theoretical as well as a Practical study of General Seaman jobsand Marine Engineering. After successful GPR training, trainee get an opportunity to join the merchant shipping industry in the Deck or Engineering Department as a Trainee GP Rating.

This is a residential course with accommodation and food being part of the total fee in pre sea training. An internal examination conducted by the board of SFSS, during the training, to judge the performance of trainees. Successful Candidate are issued Continuous Discharge Certificate and are qualified for ship merchant navy job around the world and can join as trainee OS (Ordinary Seamen)

Qualification Eligibility Criteria:

Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard from a recognized Board with Science, Mathematics as subjects and with minimum 40% marks in English language.

Pass in Govt. Approved Institute with minimum 40% marks in English at 10th or Diploma Exam.

Age Limit

17½ - 25 Years
The candidate aspiring to join this course should be within the above age limit on the date of course commencement.

Medical Criteria

Medical and Eye Sight requirements shall be as per the existing standards of DG Shipping. 6/6 Vision with no colour blindness. No speech impairment (disorder). Every trainee will have to undergo and produce a Medical Fitness certificate issued by DG Shipping approved Doctor.

Admission Procedure

Entrance test is conducted by The Board of Examination for Seafarers . www.seafarersindia.in . The entrance test includes a written examination in English , Maths and General Knowledge and a personal interview. Student gets institutes of their choice depending on Merit List, Further B.E.S send the copy of students allotted to particular institute.

Structure of Examinations

This Academy conducts internal examinations during the course of training to judge progress of trainees.

The final examinations are conducted through The All India Exit Examination for GP Ratings which is conducted in four parts (Oral, Practical, Online and Written) and is conducted bySFSS Management. The Trainee has to secure minimum 60% in each of the parts to Qualify.

Issue of Certificates

All trainees will be awarded the following certificates at the conclusion of the course and successfully clearing the All India Exit Examination;

  • Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting

DUTIES OF A GENERAL PURPOSE RATING ON A SHIP

GP Rating is well trained in both, Deck and Engine Room duties. They may be engaged in either Deck or Engine department as per the needs of the shipping company or any other job in Merchant Navy. Ratings work on the ship involves course ofSeamanship activities, maintenance work, cargo handling, operation and maintenance of machinery.
